The Screen shots below show an example of complex hiearchically-structured metadata. The screen shot at left is the administration window where the metadata is managed. The shot at the right shows how hierarchical data looks in a search window. With hierarchical metadata, users can easily click a checkbox of the desired term (and level) and the system will return search results for all terms below it. This makes it very easy for users to implement complex boolean searching.
